William Richards (b. 1761/62 - d. appx 1789) of PA
Hi Chuck,
My Richards were part of the Wyoming Valley, PA group. I'm looking for definite proof on William Richards’ father. I am trying to prove or disprove that William's father was Samuel Richards who was killed in the Indian massacre of 1763, and that his brother was David, who spent his life in Wilkes-Barre.
William was born ca 1761/62, he married Rachel Davenport in ca 1787 and their child Nathaniel was born in 1788 as recorded in the Dutch Reform Church records in NJ.
Per History of Bradford Co, PA, William was killed in Wyoming Valley ca 1788/1789. [ I assume in the Pennamite/Yankee land holding conflicts.]
Rachel (Davenport) Richards remarried a --?-- Westbrook and they moved into Bradford Co, PA for the remainder of her 90 years.
Their son, Nathaniel Richards was married in the Finger Lakes area of NY and some of his sons moved into Bradford Co, PA when they were grown. I have full records from William down to my children.
DNA results posted on the web from David's descendants seem to prove the family was [descended from] the Hartford group not the New London group, who descended from Thomas, a brother or England ancestor.....
